After a tree is removed, you can choose to leave the stump in the ground. If you intend to re-use the area for new plantings or fencing for example, you may choose to have the stump removed.
Stump grinding is the most efficient method of stump removal. A large wheel with teeth is used to chip away the stump to below the surface of the ground.
This is where the stump and the majority of the root ball are removed by digging it out of the ground using heavy machinery. This is most appropriate for larger stumps where future subsidence due to decomposition could be an issue, such as sports pitches or building plots. The stump is removed and the hole is then back filled with the appropriate soils.
